The Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science is a world-class educational and cultural organization that incorporates hands-on science activities with visual art exhibits that teach as well as entertain. The Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science is a community resource for visual arts, science exploration, and humanities education - providing cultural understanding in support of lifelong learning. With two floors of innovative science interactivity as well as an Art gallery displaying the miraculous works from the likes of the great Rembrandt to Van Gogh, The Brogan Museum instills culture and inspires patrons of all ages to “imagine the possibilities.” The Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science resulted from a merger between The Museum of Art/Tallahassee and the Odyssey Science Center in 2000. The two former organizations were created independently in 1990 and 1991 respectively, and agreed to share a common building, opening to the public in 1998. The building is on land belonging to The City of Tallahassee and the Museum executed a transfer of its sub-lease to Tallahassee Community College from Leon County Schools in 2003. In keeping with its mission, The Brogan Museum emphasizes the nexus of art and science. The Brogan was awarded its Smithsonian "Implementation" document on March 18th, 2004. The Brogan’s status as a Smithsonian Affiliate allows us to borrow significant objects that can demonstrate those connections. The Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science serves the families, children, and students that explore our galleries, attend our camp programs and line-up to experience our special events and exciting exhibits with meaningful art and science exploration. With the leadership of the members of the Museum’s Board of Directors and a dedicated staff, The Brogan Museum will continue to excel and experience positive growth.
