Breast augmentation surgery is one of the most common types of cosmetic surgeries in the world, and an operation which has helped thousands of women throughout the globe. Here in NYC breast augmentation is also very popular and just last year I decided that after many years of considering it, that I was finally ready to go under the knife.
Following the surgery the results were everything that I could have hoped for, and my new breasts really make me feel more confident and more comfortable in my own skin. The reason why I pondered this decision for such a long time is because I wanted to make sure that I was doing it for the right reasons, those reasons were all about me, and nobody else. What is worrying however is the amount of women who go in for this kind of surgery, for the wrong reasons. To understand whether your reasons are right or wrong, here are some important points to consider.
Danger of the Wrong Reasons
The truth behind why you need to have the right reasons for this surgery is that you are making permanent changes to the body which, whilst they can be reversed, will change your body forever. If you undergo something like this for reasons which aren’t correct, you could find yourself regretting having altered your body and spent money, in future years.
Keeping Up With The Jones’
You shod never make wholesale changes to your body like this, in order to keep in with a crowd or to keep up with the latest trends. Unlike making fashion choices with clothing, breast operations involve placing an implant inside your breast and you breast tissue, not exactly like throwing a dress on and off. Because of the fact that you will be operated on and change the shape of your body, it seems a bold gesture to do, solely to keep up with the latest trend.
In some cases, women go in for surgeries because they want to improve certain aspects of their body, when the issue actually exists inside the mind, rather than the body. If this is the case and you do have body image issues, there is no amount of augmentation or surgery which is going to fix the issue, and you will always find problems with aspects of your body. The best course of action here is to speak to a counsellor about your breasts and why you want them changed, in order to scratch beneath the surface and find the real reasons.
Some women go in for a procedure like this because they are mocked about the size of their chest. This is not a reason to go in for surgery and whilst the ordeal will not be pleasant, you should only go in for an operation if you don’t feel comfortable with the way that you look, and no based on the opinions of others.
Think hard about your procedure before you decide, and make sure that you are doing it for the right reasons.
